How To Care For A Sprained Ankle At Home

A sprained ankle is the injury of ligaments, generally due to a strong and sudden movement. Symptoms are pain or joint swelling, making movement impossible.

The first two to three days after the injury, it’s indicated to apply ice on the affected ankle for 15-20 minutes, 3 to 4 times a day. To reduce the swelling, keep the injured ankle upper than the heart level. Put the leg on a pillow.

Here are some natural remedies for the sprained ankle:

1. Apply as soon as possible, tea tree oil on sprained ankle, and then apply a cold compress over it.

2. Soak a cotton towel in olive oil and apply it over the painful ankle, and tie it with an elastic bandage. Change the compress several times a day.

If the sprained ankle is inflamed, you can relieve the pain and swelling by applying a cheese compress to the affected area. Mix the cheese with water or milk until you get a paste. Apply the paste on a cotton towel, and then apply the compress over the sprained ankle and let it work overnight.
