Wind, frost and low temperatures in winter are the main factors leading to cracking and dry lips. Try some natural remedies to get rid of this inconvenience.
Olive oil soothes pain
Soak a cotton pad in olive oil and wipe your lips with him. It’s very nutritious, has soothing properties and makes the lip skin more resistant. It‘s advisable to apply olive oil 3 days in a row, especially in the evening before bedtime. Furthermore, cracked and painful lips can be treated with buckthorn oil.
Honey is a highly effective treatment for cracked lips. Apply all over your lips, leave it for 15 minutes then remove it with cotton pads soaked in lukewarm water. Finally, the lips remain soft and velvety. In addition, you can prepare at home natural lip balms to protect your lips.
You need: 10 g of beeswax, 30 ml of jojoba oil and a teaspoon of honey.
Balm recipe: Boil wax and jojoba oil at bain-marie until it forms a clear liquid. After warming the honey to 30 degrees add it in the oil and wax mixture, mixing continuously until it’s cooled.
Milk and yolk mask
Chapped and dry lips can be treated with a mask based on milk and egg yolk.
Recipe: soak a piece of dark bread in a small cup with hot milk, 20 g of honey, one egg yolk and three drops of vitamin A. This mixture is applied on the lips and let it stand for 20 minutes then remove it with warm water.
Homemade exfoliating cream
To remove dead and dry skin cells you can prepare your own homemade exfoliating cream. For this you need 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, half a teaspoon of olive oil and half a teaspoon of water. These ingredients have beneficial role over the lips: sugar helps to exfoliate and refresh lips, baking soda forms cleaning foam and olive oil deeply moisturizes the lips, making them softer.
Lip balm of roses and castor oil
An excellent remedy that you can prepare at home is the lip balm with rose water. You need: 2 tablespoons of beeswax, 1 teaspoon of rose water, 1 teaspoon of grape seed oil and 2 teaspoons of almond oil. Melt the wax in a bain-marie then add rose water and all oils and leave it to cool. After cooling you can use it.
Also, castor oil is another highly beneficial ingredient for your lips. You can use it simple or as a lip balm prepared with beeswax and white wax. You need 35 g of castor oil and 1 gram of white bees wax. Melt them in a bain-marie then leave it to cool.
Cucumber for moisturizing
Rich in water and vitamin B, cucumber is a true natural moisturizing lip balm. Wipe your lips with a slice of raw cucumber or you can prepare a lotion with cucumber juice and almond oil.
1. Apply every evening and morning marigold cream for a week in thick layer. This treatment helps to moisturize and scarring sensitive lips.
2. Black radishes for tinted lips
Very good for treating dry lips is the black radish juice. Blend 2 radishes and apply the mixture with cotton swab over the lips. Do this for 2-3 times a day and leave to act for 10-15 minutes.
